What are Fume Hood Safety Tips, & Why Should You Subscribe?Virtually every laboratory has a fume hood. They are in use every day. It can be argued that they are the best and most useful safety device used in the modern laboratory. In the 30 years that I have been involved with laboratories, I have observed that fume hoods are also misused and abused . They are storage devices for hazardous waste, poorly lit, and often poorly ventilated. Dangerous things can happen in laboratories. Hazardous experiments are undertaken regularly, and familiarity with strong acids, bases, and flammables can devolve into dangerous habits. The Safety Tips are 45 brief text e-mail messages, delivered weekly, that provide advice on safe fume hood practices. An example of such a message is as follows:
I invite you to subscribe in order to benefit from a regular weekly safety message, to help keep simple and safe laboratory practices foremost in your routine. Our business is fume hood safety, and these messages are our "thank you" for your interest and attendance to the web site. Naturally, if you feel the need to contact us for your fume hood alarms and monitors, we will be grateful! In the meantime, sign up, and stay safe. Return to the home page by clicking here.
